Inhibitory Mold Agar is a selective medium for the isolation of dermatophytes and other pathogenic yeasts and fungi (e.g., Cryptococcusneoformans, Candidaspp., Aspergillusspp.). Casein and Meat Peptone supply nitrogenous compounds. Dextrose, Starch, and Dextrin provide carbohydrate sources. Yeast Extract is a source of B-complex vitamins and trace elements. Sodium Chloride, Magnesium Sulfate, Manganese Sulfate, and Ferrous Chloride provide essential ions and maintain the osmotic equilibrium. Chloramphenicol inhibits the growth of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Agar is the gelifying agent.
