Laboratory Disinfection

Disinfectants, sporicides and surface decontaminants for laboratory benches, biological safety cabinets and controlled environments.

Contact time is what determines efficacy, and it is the step most often skipped. A disinfectant rated for a five-minute kill provides no validated reduction if the surface is wiped dry after thirty seconds. Quaternary ammonium compounds handle routine bench work; alcohol at 70% is effective against vegetative bacteria but not spores; sporicidal agents based on peracetic acid or hypochlorite are required where Clostridioides difficile or Bacillus species are a concern. Rotating between chemistries reduces the risk of resistant populations establishing in a facility.
