Esco Class II Type A2 biological safety cabinets — the general-purpose cabinet for BSL-1 through BSL-3 microbiological work.
Type A2 cabinets recirculate approximately 70% of airflow through HEPA filtration and exhaust the remaining 30%, delivering personnel, product and environmental protection under NSF/ANSI 49. They can discharge into the room or connect to building exhaust through a thimble (canopy) connection, which makes relocation straightforward compared with hard-ducted designs. A2 covers cell culture, clinical microbiology, diagnostics and most research applications. If your protocol involves volatile toxic chemicals or radionuclides, specify Class II B2 instead.
