Product Description
Feeding a condenser from the tap wastes water continuously, gives you whatever temperature the building supply happens to be that day, and in many places is no longer permitted. A closed recirculating chiller fixes all three: the same charge of water circulates at a set point you choose, and nothing goes down the drain.
The CF-313Y is the compact one: a 3.9 L closed circulation system holding −20 °C to 30 °C, sized deliberately to fit on a laboratory table next to the instrument it serves. It is built around rotary evaporator work, and two details give that away. The connector rotates freely and locks in whatever orientation you need, so the hoses leave in the direction your bench layout actually allows rather than the direction the manufacturer assumed. And the air intake filter is designed for easy maintenance — the part that gets neglected on every chiller until the compressor starts short-cycling.

Choosing Between Them
| Model | Capacity | Temperature range | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| CF-303Y (115 V) / CF-313Y (220 V) | 3.9 L | −20 to 30 °C | One rotary evaporator, limited bench space |
| CF-802A-115V | 16 L | −20 °C to RT | Up to four rotary evaporators from one chiller |
| CB-100-115V / 220V | 3.4 L | −10 to 80 °C | Work that needs heating as well as cooling |
The deciding question is usually not capacity but whether you ever need to go above ambient. If you do, the CB-100 is the only one in this range that will do it. If you only ever need to remove heat, a CF costs less and is purpose-built for it.
Installation Requirements
- Electrical: AC 220 V.
- Ventilation: a chiller rejects the heat it removes into the room. Leave clearance around the air intake and exhaust, and do not box it into a cabinet.
- Coolant: use clean water or a water/glycol mix appropriate to your lowest set point — below 0 °C a glycol mix is required. Tap water left standing in a reservoir grows biofilm; plan on periodic changes.
- Hoses: insulated tubing sized to your instrument, not supplied.
