Product Description
A rotary evaporator removes solvent without cooking the product. Spinning the flask spreads the liquid into a thin film over a large heated surface, and pulling a vacuum drops the boiling point — so the solvent leaves at 40 °C instead of 80 °C, and whatever you were trying to isolate survives. The Yamato RE-202-A is the current-generation digital main unit: a DC brushless motor turning 5 to 315 rpm with digital speed display, forward, reverse and auto-reverse rotation, and an evaporation capacity of up to 23 mL/min.
This listing is the main unit only — motor head, jack, AC adapter and mounting hardware, with no bath and no glassware. Order it if you already have a compatible heating bath and glass set, or if you are replacing a failed drive. The spring-loaded jack is worth a word. It is a manual-balance design with 200 mm of stepless travel and a one-touch lock, which means the flask can be raised out of the bath in a second when a bump starts — the moment where a slow jack costs you the batch.

Not included: heating bath, glassware set, vacuum pump and vacuum tubing. Glassware sets RG-202A, RG-202B and RG-202C are listed separately, as is the recommended N820G oil-free diaphragm pump.
Installation Requirements
- Electrical: AC 115 V, 1 A, 50/60 Hz — with plug.
- Vacuum source: required. An oil-free diaphragm pump (N820GKIT) is recommended for solvent work; a rotary vane pump will be damaged by solvent vapour unless properly trapped.
- Cooling: the condenser needs a chilled water supply — a recirculating chiller such as the CF-303Y (115 V) or CF-313Y (220 V) rather than tap water.
- Bench: the unit plus bath and full glassware stands up to 745 mm tall with glassware B or C. Check overhead clearance.
