Cell culture surfaces
The surface treatment matters more than the vessel shape:
- TC-treated — plasma-treated for adherent cells. The standard for most mammalian lines.
- Non-treated — hydrophobic surface for suspension cultures and spheroid formation.
- Ultra-low attachment — actively prevents adhesion. For 3D culture and organoids.
- Coated — collagen, poly-D-lysine and fibronectin for demanding primary cells.
Sterility and certification
Sterile plasticware is gamma-irradiated and certified non-pyrogenic, DNase/RNase-free and free of human DNA. Each lot carries its own certificate.
For nucleic acid work, confirm the DNase/RNase-free claim explicitly — sterile does not automatically mean nuclease-free.
Tube and plate formats
Conical tubes come in 15 mL and 50 mL, in self-standing or rack-format packaging. Microcentrifuge tubes range from 0.2 mL to 5.0 mL, with locking or standard caps.
Microplates follow the SBS footprint, so 96- and 384-well plates fit standard readers and automation. Deep-well plates and PCR plates are matched to specific block formats — check your instrument before ordering.
