Black Plate
A black microplate exists for one reason: to stop light going where it should not. In fluorescence assays, a clear plate lets signal bleed between adjacent wells and lets ambient light reach the detector — both of which raise background and flatten your signal-to-noise. Black polystyrene absorbs it.
Use this plate for fluorescence-based assays where the readout is emitted light: viability and cytotoxicity assays, enzyme kinetics with fluorogenic substrates, fluorescent protein quantification. It is non-treated and non-sterile, so it is an assay plate rather than a culture plate.
