Product Description
The Yamato BO-302A is a 5 L constant temperature oil bath reaching 180 °C — roughly double what a water bath can do, because oil does not boil off at 100 °C.
That is the whole reason to run oil instead of water: above about 90 °C a water bath loses volume to evaporation, the level drops, the heater ends up exposed and the temperature wanders. With oil you hold 150 or 180 °C indefinitely for reflux, distillation, polymer work and viscosity testing.
This model runs either oil or water — ±2.0 °C on oil, ±1.5 °C on water — so one bath covers both ranges.

Note on bath fluid
Heat transfer oil is not included. Select a fluid rated above your working temperature — silicone oil is the usual choice to 180 °C. Never run this bath dry.
